The use of a web browser is a fundamental tool for taking advantage of our computer’s Internet connection. Among the many options available, Chrome is without a doubt the most popular and widely used. One of its most important features is its ability to be customized, allowing us to adapt it as much as possible to our uses and needs. One of them is to use the program’s full-screen mode.
Using Chrome in normal mode or occupying the entire screen of our monitor is something we can change every time we use it. By default, it will always open normally, displaying the bookmarks bar and proceeding to the limit where the Windows taskbar is located. It is simple to switch between modes, but if we want, we can always open it full screen from where we can work. Although it is not something that can be activated by pressing a button, we can do so without too many complications.
Chrome in Fullscreen Mode
Chrome must be launched from a desktop shortcut to run in full-screen mode. If you’re using Windows 10, you won’t be able to launch Chrome from the Start menu.
Make a Chrome desktop shortcut. This shortcut can be created from the Start Menu in Windows 10. Navigate to the apps list in the Start menu. Find Chrome and then drag and drop its app tile to your desktop.
Then, from the context menu, right-click the shortcut and select Properties. Navigate to the Shortcut tab and look for the ‘Target’ field. Add one space at the very end of this field, and then add the following;
Click Apply, then OK. If you have any Chrome windows open, you’ll need to close them first. Next, open Chrome using the shortcut you created, and it will open in full-screen mode. Depending on your Chrome startup settings, it will open a new tab or a specific website.
If you want to specify which website Chrome should open when you open it in full-screen mode, you can do so through Chrome’s settings. Select Settings from the menu after clicking the More Options button at the top right. Scroll down to the On startup section and select ‘Add a new page.’ Enter the address of the website you want to visit. This applies to Chrome as a whole, so even if you don’t use the shortcut you created above to open Chrome, it will still open this website.
If this is a problem for you, it’s a good idea to create a separate profile and set the start page for that profile to a specific website. You can then use another switch to launch Chrome in that profile. Chrome can run with multiple switches, so pair the profile switch with the full-screen switch.
Full-screen mode is excellent for staying on one website, and it lets you traverse the internet with direct links only. If you have another method to do it, let us know in the comment section.
